There are two shelters available for reservation.

The Heritage Oak Park shelter accommodates 80 people. While there are two shelters at Pine Hill Lakes Park, the large shelter by the lake is on a first come, first serve basis and is not available for reservation. A smaller shelter, nestled by the trees in the basin of the park's amphitheater, accommodates 30 people and is a lovely natural setting for family reunions, small corporate picnics, scout outings, and weddings.
This deposit is refundable, provided the facility is left in good condition. In Mason, volunteer organizations run youth baseball and softball, basketball, soccer, and football programs. Funformason, our program brochure, is mailed to city residents three times a year. Nonresidents may pick up a copy while supplies last at the customer service window in the Mason Municipal Center. The resident rate is for people whose legal, permanent, residential address is within the city limits of Mason.

Many homes have Mason addresses but are not actually in the city. The City of Mason offers many programs for residents, from the Citizens' Police Academy to youth sports, from nature programs to adult enrichment classes, from swimming lessons to senior travel.
The City of Mason has parkland and recreational programs for everyone! Six parks, totaling acres, are home to athletic fields, basketball and tennis courts, picnic shelter areas, fishing lakes, hiking trails, playgrounds, and an award-winning swimming pool. Some parks have picnic and other facilities that can be reserved.

Corwin M. Nixon Park has soccer fields and lighted ball diamonds. Meadows Park has basketball facilities and a large playground, making it an active neighborhood park.
Thomas P. Quinn Park, another neighborhood park, features a handicap accessible playground along with tennis, basketball, and soccer facilities. Resulting from a unique public partnership with the Mason City School District, the City of Mason will operate and manage this new, state-of-the-art community recreation center that is being built by the school district.
Once completed, the Community Center will boast oversquare feet of recreational and leisure facilities and equipment, as well as hundreds of programs and activities. The facility, being built in conjunction with the new Wm. Mason High School, will be open daily for residents of the Mason community to enjoy their leisure and recreation time in a safe, friendly, and enjoyable environment.

Annual passes to the Mason Community Center will be available to residents and non-residents alike. The "corporate" rate is available to any person employed full-time within the City of Mason corporation limits. Proof of residency or employment will be required at the time of annual pass purchase, in accordance with department policy. A "family" is a married couple or single adult, and any children residing in the same household and claimed on their most recent federal income tax return. Watch for updates and announcements on this website and in future city publications. Rental rates, policies, and procedures are currently being developed and finalized.

The twin lakes are continuously stocked during the fishing season. Fishing passes, which are required to fish, are available at Steve's Custom Rods on Kings Mills Road across from the park, and at the customer service window in the Mason Municipal Center. Practices and games are held in city or school-operated facilities. These volunteer organizations each have their own enrollment dates, eligibility requirements, fees, and schedules.

Police Department Volunteer - Duties will include telephone assistance, civilian fingerprinting, providing incident copies and accident reports for the public, general information, and filing.
General office procedure and computer skills are required, as well as customer service experience. Municipal Center Greeter - The Greeter will provide Mason area maps, general brochures on Mason services and events, and give direction to first-time visitors to the appropriate area, usually the customer service counter.
The customer service counter will be the focal point for most visitors to the new center. It is a one-stop shop and information center for the residents of Mason. Dozens and dozens of classes and programs are offered each year.

The department is ready to respond to any type of emergency, 24 hours a day. In addition, the department conducts safety classes and inspections, and is always happy to answer your questions about emergency services.
